Therapeutic Camps (Autism Spectrum Disorder, Youth)
Provider: CAMP KINDLE
The program provides recreational programs for youth, ages 7-15, who have HIV/AIDS or are immediately affected by a parent, primary caregiver or sibling with the illness; disabilities and health conditions, and autism spectrum disorders. Services include day camps, residential camps, summer camps and field trips/excursions. There are no geographic restrictions.
Activities are designed to foster creativity, self-assurance, leadership and character. The program provides camp experiences for a one week session in mid-July. In addition, the program offers excursions/field trips during the other seasons of the year for youth to visit places such as Knott's Berry Farm and Magic Mountain. It also conducts leadership events and college prep workshops for youth who are too old for the camping sessions.
A week-long day camp in June is available for children with disabilities and health conditions. The camp focuses on math, science, music and art programs. Most campers are paired with a counselor for a 1 to 1 ration.
One-day camp is available for children with autism spectrum disorders. The camp features songs, arts and crafts, and science experiments tailored for children who cannot attend traditional week-long or residential camps.
