Meal Delivery Volunteer Opportunities
Provider: AGING NEXT
The program provides volunteer opportunities for seniors age 55 and older who live in Azusa, Claremont, Covina, Diamond Bar, Glendora, La Verne, Pomona, San Dimas and Walnut who wish to become involved in volunteer work. Services include volunteer recruitment/placement. Volunteer opportunities include board/committee member volunteer opportunities, clerical volunteer opportunities, crime prevention volunteer opportunities, food sorting/packing volunteer opportunities, friendly telephoning volunteer opportunities, helpline volunteer opportunities, individual/group advocacy volunteer opportunities and meal delivery volunteer opportunities and exercise/fitness leader volunteer opportunities. There are geographic restrictions.
Volunteer recruitment/placement services include an assessment of the volunteer's interests, expertise and available hours and placement in an appropriate public or private, non-profit agency.
Volunteers serve from a few hours a month to 20 hours a week in organizations that range from community centers, to local police/CERT stations to Meals on Wheels. The agencies are all ones that serve seniors to help them to age in place. RSVP involves seniors in services that match their personal interests and makes use of their skills and lifelong experiences.
The agency at which the volunteer is placed may provide on-the-job training and supplemental insurance while the volunteer is on duty. The agency may complete background checks and fingerprint clearance on volunteers who work with any vulnerable population. If this agency places a volunteer with another non-profit agency, that agency may have different volunteer requirements.
