Missions (Single Women)

Provider: DOORS OF HOPE

The agency provides shelter for homeless single women age 18 and older, who are in the South Bay area. Services include a Christian-oriented mission. The shelter cannot accommodate women with children, women who need mental health assistance, or who cannot leave the shelter during the day due to medical issues. Individuals must have not used drugs or alcohol for at least three days before intake. The maximum length of stay is usually 14; however, occasional extensions may be granted. Former residents may return after a two month period. There are no geographic restrictions.

The shelter can accommodate 20 women in a dormitory-style setting. Bedding, linen, clothing, hygiene items, breakfast, snacks, dinner, and shower facilities are provided. Residents are required to leave the shelter between the hours of 6:15am and 3:00pm, and refrain from smoking or using alcohol or drugs. Attendance at chapel services are required nightly. Case planning and counseling services are available, but participation is not required.
