The university provides post-secondary education for people of all ages in California. Services include academic programs leading to baccalaureate and post-baccalaureate degrees. The university also provides services for students with disabilities; distance education opportunities, including online courses; an educational opportunity program (see the separate entry) for economically disadvantaged students; Extension services; professional continuing education and Life Long Learning programs for older adults. There are no geographic restrictions.

The Accessibility Resource Center's services include accomodated test taking, notetakers, readers and research assistants. The ARC conducts interviews and assessments for program services.

The university offers Extended Studies or Extended Education programs for older adults, including the Osher Life Long Learning Institute for older adults, age 50 and over. Courses are available online and at the university in a variety of fields. The older adult programs also provide speakers and other cultural events for seniors.
