Senior Housing Information and Referral
Provider: CALIFORNIA REGISTRY
The registry provides services for older adults age 60 and older in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura, and San Diego counties, and the greater Sacramento and San Francisco Bay areas. Services include nursing facility referrals, senior housing information and referral and specialized information and referral related to frail elderly with long term care issues. There are no geographic restrictions.
The agency DOES NOT REFER to HUD housing or Section 8.
Program staff assess the need for placement, in home services, and the appropriate type and level of care needed. Referrals are available for licensed senior care, residential care and independent living facilities; retirement, board and care, convalescent, skilled nursing, and assisted living homes; and for specialty services including dementia care and hospice care. Efforts are made to locate facilities which are geographically close to the significant others of the person who is to be placed.
The registry is free to the public and lists resources for all income levels, excluding Medi-Cal. Facilities must apply to be considered as referral resources by the registry; all must be fully licensed, must complete a detailed application form, must pass an unannounced inspection by trained registry staff, and must continue to pass inspections. The registry does not officially accept complaints regarding facilities which are on their list, but refers people who wish to complain to the appropriate licensing agencies.
