Sexually Transmitted Disease Screening
Provider: LOS ANGELES LGBT CENTER - HEALTH SERVICES
The clinic provides health services primarily for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals of all ages in Los Angeles county. Services include men's health care, women's health care, sexually transmitted disease screening and treatment and clinical trials. Age restrictions apply for some services; there are no geographic restrictions.
The agency participates in the LA County Healthy Way LA Contract Clinic program with additional support from the Ryan White Foundation. People who have AIDS/HIV and who qualify for Healthy Way LA may receive primary care at organization's main site. The program provides primary care health coverage for low income people ages 19 to 64, who are LA County Residents, US Citizens, or are legal immigrants and who are not eligible under insurance plans, or other third party coverage such as Medi-Cal. Income must be at or below 133 % of Federal Poverty Level.
The STD clinic provides laboratory testing, treatment, epidemiology, prevention, counseling and health education information for teens and adults of both sexes who are concerned about STD's. The program is especially sensitive to the needs of gay men and lesbians, but anyone may apply.
Health services at The Spot site include STD screening, for gonorrhea, Chlamlydia and syphilis; and STD treatment, for adults and adolescents. STD Screening hours are restricted; only the first 10 walk-in clients after 3pm will be served, due to staffing.
The clinic provides acupuncture services to clients of the Jeffrey Goodman Clinic's HIV services.
The Audre Lorde Lesbian Health Clinic provides free or low cost health services in a lesbian sensitive environment. Services include basic gynecological services, pap smears and breast exams.
