Transitional Housing/Shelter

Provider: PROYECTO PASTORAL AT DOLORES MISSION - GUADALUPE HOMELESS PROJECT MEN'S SHELTER

The program provides emergency and transitional shelter for men in the Boyle Heights area of Los Angeles. Services include shelter for up to 30 days, and transitional shelter and support for an additional 90 days. People who complete a one month trial period may stay the additional three months. The men's shelter can accommodate 45 men; and the women's shelter can accommodate 15 women ages 55 and up. The program is also known as the sanctuary. Meals and support services are provided.

Residents participate in small groups, which are facilitated by agency staff. Staff provide employment services; housing search; rights counseling; ESL classes; and Bible study. Bi-monthly health care is provided by Community Health Foundation - Homeless Healthcare Project (see the separate entry).
