Parenting Skills Classes
Provider: LOS ANGELES MISSION
The mission provides adult education services for men and women, including ex-offenders and those who are homeless, living in Los Angeles. The program provides adult basic education, GED preparation, English as a Second Language, life skills education, parenting and anger management classes by certified instructors, and vocational rehabilitation. Professional development classes include Romans, Synoptic Gospels and church history; course credits are transferable to Bible School. The Urban Training Institute (UTI) is a Christian-oriented relational recovery program that utilizes an educational model to provide rehabilitation for homeless men and women, age 18 and older. There are no geographic restrictions.
The UTI program is a two-year residential program. The first year consists of recovery, academic training and community service training tracks. All residential students are required to participate in all three tracks and to maintain compliance with the Institute's zero tolerance for drugs, alcohol, tobacco, violence or threat of violence. UTI's Student Body Assembly elects Student Body Representatives who participate in the Executive Management Team of the Los Angeles Mission.
Second year UTI students are eligible for housing assistance, job search assistance, and other support services.
Anger management, parenting classes and domestic violence classes are court approved. Enrollment, progress and completion letters are provided. The length of courses is dependent on court orders.
