Specialized Information and Referral

The program provides home improvement services for low-income people throughout Los Angeles County. Services include furnace repair and weatherization. The weatherization program also includes the San Fernando Valley and Lancaster area. Geographic restrictions apply for certain services.

The Weatherization program is also for elderly, handicapped and low-income residents. Services include weather stripping, broken window repair, insulation, low-flow shower heads, water heater blankets, stove replacement and other approved materials for reducing energy consumption.

The furnace repair/replacement programs are sponsored through State of California and Southern California Gas Co. The State program can assist renters and homeowners; the Southern California Gas program is for low income homeowners. The agency has an outreach team which searches for low-income residents of Los Angeles County who may be in need of the service. A crew assesses the need for repair or replacement and installs the new furnace.
