Veterinary Care Expense Assistance
Provider: PET ASSISTANCE FOUNDATION
The agency provides animal services for people who live in Los Angeles County and all of Southern California. Services include public awareness and education, specialized information and referral, and veterinary care expense assistance for neuter/spay services only for very low-income pet owners. There are no geographic restrictions.
The foundation does not provide financial assistance for medical care or emergencies.
The agency sponsors an informational hotline for specialized information and referral. Staff provide information about pet sterilization and referrals to local veterinarians who cooperate with the agency to provide low cost spaying, neutering and vaccination services.
Telephone staff can also provide information about current legislation relating to animal welfare and animal placement agencies.
The foundation distributes spay/neuter vouchers for citizens of the City of Los Angeles. The foundation also gives out information about financial subsidy sources depending on the caller's geographic location. In addition, they can assist in locating a good low-cost veterinarian for medical problems. The Foundation has access to POPCO vouchers for individuals in the Inland Empire (San Bernardino and Riverside counties).
The foundation offers free literature which provides facts and statistics about pet overpopulation and spaying and neutering for people who are concerned about the welfare of animals.
Interested people can become members of the organization to support its work. Members receive the agency's newsletter four times per year.
