Adolescent/Youth Counseling
Provider: SOUTH BAY CHILDREN'S HEALTH CENTER - CHILD GUIDANCE CLINIC
The agency provides mental health services for adolescents, children and families in the South Bay area. Services include child guidance, adolescent/youth counseling and family counseling. Modalities include group and individual counseling for youth, age 3 through 21; and family counseling. Services are restricted to South Bay residents.
The clinic provides individual, family, and group therapy for children and adolescents from 18 months to 21 years old who have severe emotional or behavioral problems and their families who live in the Torrance Health District which includes Gardena, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Lawndale, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, Wilmington and parts of Lomita and Carson, and the Palos Verdes Unified School District. The services for clients may also include psychiatric consultation, and medication evaluation and monitoring.
Children and teens may be seen whose problems include ongoing anger, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, confusion, fear, depression, or loneliness; stealing; enuresis or encopresis; behavior problems at home, school, or in the community; running away; and suicidal threats.
The entire family is involved in the sessions and an individualized treatment plan is developed; ongoing sessions include the child and parents and other family members, as appropriate.
