Basic Income Maintenance Programs
Provider: BREATHE L A COUNTY - GUARANTEED INCOME PROGRAM

The program provides financial assistance for former foster youth in Los Angeles County. There are no geographic restrictions.
Breathe is a guaranteed income project that will provide 200 former Los Angeles County DCFS foster youth with $1,000 per month for two years. The application period was open from June 20 to July 3, 2023.
To be eligible for the expanded program for former foster youth, applicants must meet ALL
the following requirements below:
- Be between 21 years old and under 24 (turn 24 until September 1, 2023 or
later) when applying
- Be a former Los Angeles County DCFS foster youth who was in care on or after their
18th birthday
- Live in a Los Angeles County neighborhood that falls at or below 100% of the County’s
Area Median Income (AMI)
- Have a household income that falls at or below 100% of the County’s AMI, for a single person household
OR
- Have a household income that falls at or below 120% of the County’s AMI, for households with two or more persons
- Have been negatively financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic
- Not be currently enrolled in another Guaranteed Income project offered by the County,
a city, or other public or private entity
Applicants must be former foster youth, be a Los Angeles County resident, have a household income at or below LA County's Area Median Income (AMI), have been negatively financially impacted by Covid-19, and not enrolled in another Guaranteed Income project offered by a city or public/private entity. Only one applicant per household.
200 applicants will be selected to receive LA County's Guaranteed Income pending eligibility and random drawing.
