This is a public observatory and planetarium for people of all ages who are interested in astronomy and related sciences. Programs include planetarium shows; presentation/lecture theater; telescope viewing; exhibits inside and outside of the observatory; and a monthly magazine.

In addition, the site provides meeting space for the Los Angeles Astronomical Society and for Griffith Observatory Foundation.

Griffith Observatory Foundation is a non-profit membership organization. Its mission is to support and promote Griffith Observatory as a home for science literacy, education, and public astronomy through resource development and advocacy in partnership with the community.
