Developmental Screening
Provider: HOLLYGROVE AN EMQ FAMILIES FIRST AGENCY
The program provides mental health services for youth, ages 2 to 18 years old who have full-scope Medi-Cal in Los Angeles County. Services include behavior modification, child guidance, developmental screening, home based mental health services, infant and early childhood mental health, and wrap around facilitation/community support. There are no geographic restrictions.
The Developmental Screening program for children, age two to five years, is offered to parents who have concern about the developmental progress of their child. A screening tool, Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ or ASQ-SE), is administered by a multi-disciplinary team in the clinic setting, client's home, or daycare center.
Treatment services include outpatient mental health services, play-based therapy, Dyadic therapy, medication services and parenting education. Client's must be able to visit the center once a week for treatment, although many community-based services are also provided. Staff are trained in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT),Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Managing and Adapting Practice (MAP), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
The Wraparound Program meets the needs of chidren with complicated, multi-dimensional problems. Children may be referred by the courts or by DCFS. The approach involves the development of a child and family team which creates and implements a wraparound plan that identifies a set of community services and natural supports to promote success, safety and permanence in home, school and community. The program serves referred chidren from LA County SPAs, 2, 3 and 4.
The Therapeutic Behavioral Services program (TBS) is available for eligible children who need short-term behavioral support in addition to any other mental health services they are receiving. The goal of TBS is to help children avoid being placed in a higher level of care, such as a residential treatment facility, or to help children make a successful move to a lower level of care, such as returning home after residential treatment.
