Provider: INSTITUTE FOR APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS

Mentoring service volunteers encourage a supportive relationship with an adult who has a development disability. Volunteers meet with a developmentally disabled person on a regular basis at mutually convenient times to share activities such as movies, sports, shopping, or preparing a meal together. Volunteers are needed to inspired and assist a person in becoming more involved with his/her community.

Agency volunteers are asked to attend a brief training session and are supervised by agency staff. Volunteers are not required to take or pass any tests. Volunteers are required to be 18 years of age, and have both a valid drivers license and auto insurance. The agency does not complete background checks, however, volunteers must be fingerprinted by the Department of Justice. Individuals may commit to volunteer as little as 10 hours a month, however, the agency asks volunteers to commit to volunteer for a period of 6 months.
