Independent Living Skills Instruction (Blindness)

Provider: CENTER FOR LIVING INDEPENDENCE FOR THE MULTI-HANDICAPPED BLIND

The agency provides a comprehensive residential and educational program for adults age 18 and older who are blind and multi-handicapped. Services include group residences for adults with disabilities, independent living skills for blind and for multihandicapped persons, orientation and mobility training, supported employment opportunities, and vocational education. The agency operates numerous small group homes and residential living facilities throughout the San Gabriel Valley. There are no geographic restrictions.

The day program conducted at the Alhambra Work Activity Center location stresses independent living skills and vocational training, including mobility training, recreational and social development. Students must have eating, dressing and self-care skills and be ambulatory. There are no geographic restrictions.

Application Procedure
Call for information or to schedule an appointment. A referral is required from the appropriate Regional Center. Placements are made through the Eastern Los Angeles and San Gabriel/Pomona Regional Centers.
