Juvenile Delinquency Prevention
Provider: SOLEDAD ENRICHMENT ACTION, INC. - EAST LOS ANGELES RESOURCE CENTER
The program provides wraparound services for youth and their families who live in Los Angeles County. Services include crisis intervention for gang-related problems; gang programs for children, ages 8 through 12, as well as Gang Intervention Programs (GIP) for youth referred from Los Angeles County Probation Department. Age restrictions apply for some services; there are no geographic restrictions.
Crisis intervention is provided for families experiencing gang-related crises; it provides an immediate response to individuals, families and communities.The program provides crisis intervention among gang members to prevent violence. It refers gang members for social services and can arrange for free tattoo removals.
The agency provides home-based services, intensive family-centered, home-based services, to a targeted population of high-risk/high need youth ages 14-18 who come out of detention facilities to their families, and are referred by Los Angeles County Probation Department. The services are meant to avert an ongoing escalation of criminal and delinquent behavior and to promote school success. In addition, services are designed to strengthen the family unit, help parents develop more effective parenting skills, strength their relationship, promote responsible youth behavior, and decrease the amount of delinquency and recidivism among the youth in the family.
Camp Unity at Barley Flats is a residential camping facility which provides a getaway for inner city youth and provides programs which help youth confront the difficult issues they face. This program is open to the community.
