Advocacy/Ombudsman Volunteer Opportunities
Provider: PROJECT SISTER FAMILY SERVICES
The agency provides volunteer opportunities to individuals living in Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties. Services include crisis intervention volunteer opportunities, individual/group advocacy volunteer opportunities, internship programs and public speaking volunteer opportunities. Volunteers must be willing to travel within the agency's service area. There are no geographic restrictions.
Crisis intervention volunteers answer telephone calls on the agency's 24 hour crisis intervention hotline as well as accompany survivors to the hospital, court or police department. Hotline volunteers work out of their own homes.
Individual/group advocacy volunteers provide accompaniment services to victims of assault. Advocacy volunteers accompany victims of sexual assault to hospitals, law enforcement agencies and courts, and act as an advocate for the victim with medical, legal and law enforcement professionals.
Internships are available to students wishing to satisfy school requirements. Internship requirements are determined by the participating student and school.
Public speaking volunteers provide community outreach services for the agency.
