Student Financial Aid

Provider: CALIFORNIA COUNCIL OF THE BLIND

The agency provides services for people with disabilities related to blindness in Los Angeles County and throughout the State of California. Services include advocacy, student financial aid, specialized information and referral, and vehicle donation program. There are no geographic restrictions.

Specialized information and referral services include referrals to local chapters of the organization for support and involvement and referrals to attorneys for blind people who are faced with discrimination or Social Security problems.

The organization provides college scholarships and offers financial aid for blind and partially-sighted California residents who are attending California schools.

It also holds one annual convention per year which focuses on job readiness; and publishes a quarterly magazine called The Blind Californian, also advocates on behalf of blind people with legislative representatives.

The vehicle donation program accepts operational and non-operational vehicles. However, at times it will depend on the year, make or model on whether they accept a non-operational vehicle. Call 877-999-8322 to donate a vehicle.
