Mental Health Drop In Centers
Provider: SAN FERNANDO VALLEY COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH CENTER INC - VICTORY WELLNESS CENTER
The Victory Wellness Center provides mental health services for adults 18 years and older in the San Fernando Valley and Lancaster areas. Services include central intake/assessment for substance abuse; a mental health drop in center targeted, but not restricted, to individuals with a serious and persistent mental illness and those who are dual diagnosed; and support groups. Geographic restrictions apply for some services.
This county Community Assessment Service Center (CASC) provides central intake/assessment for alcohol and/or drug abuse or residents of SPA's 1 and 2. Staff use an automated assessment tool to determine addiction severity and screen the participant's eligibility for specifically funded county-contracted alcohol and drug programs. Supportive services may include substance abuse education, vocational rehabilitation, transportation and referrals to other community services.
The center provides a psychosocial rehabilitation program to assist and teach individuals how to stabilize themselves in order to lead independent and productive lives. Staff provide counseling, case management, linkage with additional services, socialization and recreational activities, pre-vocational skills, independent living skills, and peer support. Family support services are also available.
Participants are encouraged to become involved in running the wellness center as part of their mental health treatment plan. Support groups for dual recovery, schizophrenics anonymous, self-esteem workshop and bipolar anonymous and other specific mental health issues are also available.
