Mental Health Drop In Centers
Provider: BRIDGES - PROJECT INDEPENDENCE - A WELLNESS AND RECOVERY CENTER
The agency provides an outpatient mental health facility for children, adolescents and young adults, ages 6 to 21, and an MHSA funded Wellness Center to provide services and support to adult mental health clients who are in recovery and no longer need intensive mental health services. Age restrictions vary by site; please call for information. The service area is generally SPA 2 - the San Fernando Valley; however there are no geographic restrictions.
Services at the TruStart Clinic location in Woodland Hills, provide comprehensive outpatient mental health services for children, adolescents and young adults ages 6 to 21. Treatment may include adolescent/youth counseling, child guidance counseling and group therapy. Psychiatry and psychiatric medication monitoring is also available. Youth may be referred by social workers, probation officers, schools, group homes, or may be referred by family.
The Wellness Center provides self-help mental health support groups; peer to peer support groups; social/recreational activities; medication evaluation and support services; employment and education services, and integrated services and support for co-occurring disorders, such as substance abuse. No referral is required; people may self-refer.
In addition the centers provide physical health screenings, and assistance with referrals to health care providers. The program also provides healthy living and health management education. Referrals are given for, housing possibilities, benefit maintenance and short term or crisis mental health services.
