Landlord/Tenant Dispute Resolution
Provider: INLAND FAIR HOUSING AND MEDIATION BOARD
The agency provides mediation services to people who reside in the cities of El Centro in Imperial County, in the cities of Cathedral City and Indio in Riverside County, and for the residents of San Bernardino County. Services include housing discrimination assistance, HUD approved counseling agencies, and landlord/tenant dispute resolution. There are geograhic restrictions for some services.
The agency assists people in resolving questions and avoiding disputes over evictions, deposit returns, substandard conditions and other renter/rental owners matters. Trained mediators discuss with both renter and rental owners their individual rights and responsibilities in all aspects of housing.
HUD comprehensive counseling services include assistance to borrowers in matters of loan default and foreclosure, federal rent assistance information; home purchase information, financial education and pre-purchase counseling.
The agency also conducts community education programs for local groups to help citizens understand their rights and the benefits available through various federal housing programs.
Services to seniors living in the west end of San Bernardino County and Ontario include information and referral for low-income housing; home care or service providers such as live-ins, day care providers, housekeepers and gardeners; transportation information and purchase of bus and Dial-A-Ride passes.
The agency also provides advocacy for seniors by assisting in the application process for the Home Energy Assistance Program and provides assistance for seniors seeking FHA reverse mortgage benefits.
