The school district administers comprehensive educational services for children who are in preschool through the 12th grade, in the Alhambra area. The district includes a children's center, 13 elementary schools, three middle schools, three four-year high schools, a continuation school, and an alternative high school. It also provides special education services for children who have learning/language disabilities and for hearing impaired students, and provides services for gifted children through the district's Gifted And Talented Education (GATE) Program. Services are restricted to residents living in the district boundaries.
The elementary district serves students who live in Alhambra and portions of Monterey Park; in addition to these areas, the high school district serves students who live in portions of Rosemead and San Gabriel.
