In Home Assistance Registries

The bureau provides information about in home health services for people of all ages in Los Angeles county. Services include home health care complaints, in home assistance registries and occupational/professional licensing and certificate for home health aides. There are no geographic restrictions.

The bureau is responsible for licensing home care organizations including processing applications, issuing renewals, receiving and responding to complaints and conducting unannounced visits to ensure compliance. It also maintains the California Home Care Aide Registry, a public list of providers who have been background checked.

Applicants and current aides may check the status of their background check by calling the department's Caregiver Background Check Bureau. Home Care Organizations may request a transfer of a Home Care Aide's clearance or criminal record exemption once the aide is listed on the registry.
