The unit prosecutes cases throughout Los Angeles County which involve the abuse and/or neglect of a person age 65 or older and dependent adults ages 18 through 64. There are no geographic restrictions.
In addition, this unit prosecutes nursing home and board and care facilities charged with neglecting or abusing their residents. This includes the prosecution of in-home caretakers with such charges against them.
The types of abuses prosecuted may include emotional, exploitation, financial, homicide, neglect, physical abuse, or sexual abuse. The waiting period for service depends upon the urgency of the complaint.
