Historic Preservation Volunteer Opportunities

The agency provides volunteer opportunities to individuals over the age of 18 who live in Los Angeles County. Volunteer opportunities include board committee member volunteer opportunities, clerical volunteer opportunities, historical preservation volunteer opportunities, public speaking volunteer opportunities and tour/exhibit guide volunteer opportunities. There are no geographic restrictions.

Tour/exhibit guide volunteers assist with historic, architectural, and neighborhood house tours. Tour/exhibit guide volunteers act as Docents for The Los Angeles Conservancy's Downtown Walking Tour program. The program, which guides over 9000 people per year through more than a dozen tours, are given on Saturday mornings, as well as on weekdays by special arrangement.

The agency provides six Saturday afternoon sessions of formal docent training.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. The agency does not complete background checks and volunteers are not expected to take or pass any tests. Volunteer docents must lead at least eight Saturday tours per year.
