Pediatric Orthopedics
Provider: LUSKIN ORTHOPAEDIC INSTITUTE FOR CHILDREN
The Institute is an outpatient and teaching facility which provides comprehensive medical care to children age birth to 17.5 with musculoskeletal conditions and injuries, who live in Los Angeles County. Patients receive care for conditions in 21 subspecialties including fracture care, sports medicine, scoliosis and spinal deformity, arthrogryposis, bone tumors, cerebral palsy, clubfoot, congenital limb deficiency and deformity, connective tissue disorders, hip disorders, hemophilia, prosthetic care, skeletal dysplasia/dwarfism and spina bifida. Age restrictions apply for some services; there are no geographic restrictions.
The Institute provides services for children age birth to 17.5. Children who qualify for CCS program funding for specific medical conditions are seen up to the age of 21. See the separate entry CA State DHS - California Children's Services, for a list of qualifying disabilities.
The Institute provides diagnostic services, treatment, rehabilitation and urgent care. The Institute also provides a CHDP clinic for children of low-income families. Adolescent medical services include general diagnostic testing and health problems counseling. Ancillary services include laboratory services, a pharmacy and social services.
CHDP provides regular, preventive health assessments and developmental assessments for children from birth to age 21 who are Medi-Cal eligible and for children from birth through age 18 whose family income is less than 200% of the federal poverty level. The check-ups are offered at set intervals and may include the required Head Start or State Preschool and pre-first grade exams.
The hemophilia center provides comprehensive care for children and adults who have hemophilia. The pharmacy carries a supply of anti-hemophilia factor.
