Parent Counseling
Provider: DIDI HIRSCH MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES - GLENDALE CENTER
The center provides life problems counseling for people of all ages in Los Angeles County. Services include adolescent/youth counseling, bereavement counseling, child abuse counseling, divorce counseling, family counseling, general counseling, group counseling, in person crisis intervention, individual counseling, marriage counseling, mental health related support groups, parenting counseling, perinatal/postpartum depression counseling, sexual assault counseling and suicide prevention hotlines. There are no geographic restrictions.
Counseling services for youth are provided to treat a variety of issues, including truancy, school difficulties, sexual and physical abuse, running away and substance abuse, as well as for severe family conflict, adjustments to parental separation and divorce, depression, anxiety, and thought disorder. Special programs include child abuse treatment, children's group treatment, counseling for reunited-families with a child who has been abducted, and services for children who need to improve their academic performance and/or school behavior.
Adult counseling services include individual psychotherapy and family therapy. Issues addressed may include depression, including postpartum depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders; bereavement counseling; divorce counseling; premarital counseling; marriage counseling; and parent counseling.
The agency provides a group counseling class for parents with children. The group, which runs in 10 week recurring blocks, meets at the Mar Vista site every Tuesday from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.
A Childrens' Social Skills Group for children ages 5 to 8 meets every Monday from 4:00pm to 5:00pm.
A support group for Spanish-speaking family members of the mentally ill is also available. This group is provided by NAMI California - Westside Los Angeles.
