Parenting Materials
Provider: FIRST 5 LA
The commission provides public awareness/education services about First 5LA funded programs and services geared towards pregnant women and children age five and under and their families. Public awareness/education campaigns include the Safe Sleeping and the Safely Surrendered Baby Campaign, launched to highlight the Safely Surrendered baby law; a campaign to highlight positive caregiver modeling; and the Ready, Set Grow campaign to promote fun, safe, family activities across LA County. LA Universal Preschool has a website listing all the eligible funded programs.
The public awareness campaigns are also conducted through events, a weekly e-newsletter, print publications, radio, television and print media outreach.
The CA State First 5 Commission also provides a "Kit for New Parents", a series of pamphlets and videos on the questions and issues of interest to expectant and new parents. The kit is available in English, Spanish, Mandarin/Cantonese, Korean and Vietnamese.
