Mental Health Evaluation
Provider: NEW DIRECTIONS FOR YOUTH INC
The agency provides counseling services for at risk families in the San Fernando Valley. Services include adolescent/youth counseling; group and individual counseling; mental health evaluation and parenting skills development. The program targets at-risk families and youth who have been referred by law enforcement, or school programs.
The school-based component provides group counseling at more than 25 LAUSD campuses in the San Fernando Valley.
Life problems counseling may be individual, family or group therapy. Services are provided by professional counselors. If the therapy is court-ordered, the program usually consists of 8 to 10 sessions. These may be extended if necessary. The program provides parenting skills development classes for court-referred parents; however, the program also accepts parents from the community.
