Residential Graffiti Removal
Provider: NEW DIRECTIONS FOR YOUTH INC
The agency provides youth services for youth and young adults, ages 9 to 18, in the San Fernando Valley. Services include a graffiti removal program, juvenile delinquency prevention and juvenile diversion. Age and geographic restrictions apply for some services.
The goal of the agency is to provide a network of services to fight crime and unemployment. Juvenile diversion services are available for youth who are involved in the juvenile justice system or are at high risk and their families. Project staff meet with the youth and family to assess problems and needs and, as appropriate, can provide individual, family, and group counseling; short-term case management services; referrals for other needed services; parenting education; substance abuse education; and alternative education classes for pregnant minors and court-referred high school age students. Classes are provided by the Los Angeles County Office of Education.
In addition, the agency offers a graffiti removal service for residents of the San Fernando Valley. Anyone may call to request assistance. The program utilizes youth and adults who have been referred by the court to perform community service in lieu of incarceration. The graffiti program also accepts referrals from Los Angeles City Graffiti Hotline and is a cooperating affiliate of the Operation Clean Sweep program which is operated by the Los Angeles City Public Works Department; for details, see the separate entry under L A City Public Works Department Operation Clean Sweep.
