Vocational Rehabilitation

The agency provides services for individuals of all ages who are deaf or hard of hearing in Los Angeles County. Services include independent living skills instruction, job search/placement assistance, prevocational training, supported employment, workshops related to disabilities issues, and vocational rehabilitation. Age restrictions apply for some services; there are no geographic restrictions.

Job training is provided for individuals age 16 and older in medical, industry, custodial, assembly and warehouse occupations; a paid work activity program for severely disabled people is also available. To be eligible for the program individuals must be interested in a career in the field for which they will be trained and able to attend class for six hours per day, Monday through Friday. The program includes a preliminary evaluation and interview, a ten-day job training trial period, comprehensive job training, and job placement.
