Social Clubs/Events
Provider: CANCER SUPPORT COMMUNITY - SOUTH BAY
The agency provides health services for children and adolescents age 5 to 17 and adults who have cancer and their families, friends and significant others. Services include caregiver/care receiver support groups, health/disability related support groups for children, adolescents and adults, pain management, and social clubs/events. There are no geographic restrictions.
Ongoing support groups for specific types of cancer focus on areas like stress management and pain control, visualization and relaxation, or nutrition and cooking.
In addition to group meetings, the community provides various social programs which are open to anyone who has cancer and his or her significant others. Wellness and social/recreational activities are frequently offered.
People who are interested in the agency's services may become involved in numerous activities or they may stop by to talk with others who are working toward their own recovery.
Agency services are viewed as an adjunct to traditional medical treatment for cancer, not as an alternative, and the community is supportive of traditional medical approaches. However, people who choose not to be under the care of a physician are also welcome.
