Municipal Police
Provider: CITY OF SAN FERNANDO POLICE DEPARTMENT
The department provides law enforcement services for residents of the city of San Fernando. Services include abandoned vehicle reporting/removal, adult fingerprinting, bicycle safety education, child fingerprinting, crime prevention, fraud prevention, INS fingerprinting, law enforcement complaints, municipal police, neighborhood watch programs, police reports, sexual assault prevention, temporary restraining order assistance, and traffic safety education/inspections. Services are restricted to the city of San Fernando.
Livescan fingerprinting is available for adult employment and citizenship/immigration identification and background checks.
Temporary restraining order assistance is provided on a short term (72 hrs), emergency basis only. Regular TROs must be applied for at a Superior Court location.
Crime prevention programs include the organization of Neighborhood Watch groups, lectures at senior citizen centers regarding bunco and fraud schemes, and lectures and films regarding rape prevention.
The Community Relations Division provides crime awareness presentations on a variety of topics for youth in local schools. Topics may include pedestrian safety, bicycle safety, stranger danger, and how to recognize good touches and bad touches. The division also sponsors an Explorer's Program which trains youth for volunteer work assisting with police-related duties.
The department is registered with INS to provide fingerprinting services for immigration benefits applicants as well as LiveScan Fingerprint services for state and federal applicants.
