Family Counseling
Provider: AMANECER COMMUNITY COUNSELING SERVICE - CHILDREN AND FAMILY CLINIC
The agency provides mental health services for children ages birth to 18 years, youth ages 16 to 25 years, and adults of all ages in the Central Los Angeles, MacArthur Park, Pico-Union and West Adams areas of Los Angeles. Adult services are targeted to chronically mentally ill, low-income, Spanish-speaking people. Services include therapy, intervention and case management; including trauma-focused intervention and support for foster youth and families with you at risk for out-of-home placement. There are no geographic restrictions.
Services include art therapy, developmental screenings, family counseling, infant and early childhood mental health, juvenile diversion, mental health evaluation, psychiatric case management, psychiatric disorder counseling and psychiatric medication monitoring and Wraparound Facilitation/community support services. Children's and Family Services are provided at the agency's Amanecer Child and Family Clinic location. Age restrictions apply; there are no geographic restrictions.
The agency provides adult outpatient mental health services through Amanecer, its mental health outpatient clinic. Services offered include counseling, medication evaluation and follow-up, and psychiatric evaluation and diagnosis. The program provides individual, conjoint, family and group counseling for chronically mentally ill adults, or those with acute psychiatric disorders. Treatment is usually long-term.
Child and Family services include individual, group and family counseling for a variety of psychiatric disturbances. Services offered include developmental screening, case management, psychiatric evaluation and diagnosis, medication evaluation and follow-up. The program also provides school-based services, juvenile diversion services for referred youth, and a therapeutic arts program.
The Wraparound facilitation/community support program is provided for court-referred youth in probation or in DCFS child abuse or foster care programs. Wraparound is conducted by a multi-displinary team consisting of a social worker case manager, a therapist and a parent "Partner". Sessions are conducted in the home and may involve just the child or the whole family as needed. The program accepts youth from age 8 to 18, and may continue for one year or longer. The service area is L A County SPA 4 (Metro Area).
The developmental screening program for children, age three to five years, is offered to parents who have concern about the developmental progress of their child. Screening tools, DCO-3R and ICARE 0-5, are administered by agency professional staff with the parents in the clinic or home setting. Treatment may include individual and family therapy. Staff are trained in Incredible Years general (IY) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
