Dance Instruction

The department administers and provides a wide variety of recreational services and facilities for people of all ages who reside in Torrance. The facilities administered and maintained by the department include over 33 parks, two senior citizens centers, a cultural arts center, a nature center, the Dee Hardison Sports Center, a swimming pool and a golf course.

The department offers a wide variety of recreational classes and activities at various sites which include dance, dodgeball, golf, basketball, softball, swimming, tennis, volleyball, and art. Charter clubs are available for people who have an interest in fencing, kendo, akido, naginata, karate, golf, and dog obedience. The department also provides early education classes for children and their parents, special art and theatre excursions, a carpenter wagon that seasonally travels from park to park offering wood crafting and a variety of senior citizen activities.

The department provides a social club for developmentally disabled teens and adults; also sponsors "Special Needs Sports," a year-round sports training and competition program for youth and adults with developmental disabilities.
