Communication Training

Provider: KOREAN AMERICAN FAMILY SERVICES

The agency provides youth services for Korean youth ages 14 through 17 in Los Angeles County. Services include adult/child mentoring programs, child and adult care food programs, communication training, leadership development, school readiness programs, and youth enrichment programs. Age restrictions apply; there are no geographic restrictions.

The youth enrichment program includes effective communication, leadership development, time management, resume writing, and summer/temporary job planning.

A school readiness program is available for Korean immigrant parents and their pre-kindergarten children. The program includes seminars, school visits, and field trips to familiarize families with the local school system. Participating children also take part in safety field trips to raise awareness on emergencies and how to respond to them.

The agency works with licensed family day care homes and child care centers to provide nutrition education and healthy snacks and meals that meet national nutritional standards. Participating centers are reimbursed for food costs.
