Internship Programs
Provider: UNITED STATES FUND FOR UNICEF
The agency provides volunteer opportunities to individuals living in Los Angeles County. Services include clerical volunteer opportunities, fundraising event volunteer opportunities, individual/group advocacy volunteer opportunities, internship programs, pledge drive volunteer opportunities, and public speaking volunteer opportunities. There are no geographic restrictions.
Clerical volunteers do data entry and research, and prepare mailings at agency chapter offices.
Fundraising event volunteers coordinate with their local U.S. Fund for UNICEF chapter or national office to create a local activity that can be fun, educational, and raise funds for UNICEF.
Individual/group advocacy volunteers work as part of the agency's Advocacy Alert. Advocacy volunteers receive agency suggestions on how to contact legislatures. By taking actions, advocacy volunteers become an influential force in generating the support necessary to ask for legislation for the betterment of the world's children.
College students can participate in the agency's internship program. Interns can assist the agency with daily office activities by answering telephones, doing date entry, preparing mailings, or doing research. Interns should have some computer skills, be able to work in a team, and be able to work between 9:00am and 5:00pm.
Pledge drive volunteers organize a "Trick-or-Treat for Unicef" campaign in their neighborhood, school or place of worship. This program aims to help teach children compassion and civic responsibility and gives them the opportunity to translate these lessons into action by raising money for the agency.
Public speaking volunteers become a part of the agency's National Speakers Bureau. Public speaking volunteers speak to service groups and others in their community about UNICEF's work. LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH Volunteers are not required to speak any language other than English.
