Domestic Violence Hotlines (Hearing Loss)

Provider: NATIONAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE HOTLINE

The program provides a national hotline for victims of domestic violence, perpetrators, friends and families. Services include domestic violence hotlines; domestic violence hotlines targeted to the hearing impaired, and dating violence issues; and information and referral to domestic violence services and programs. There are no geographic restrictions.

The agency maintains a nationwide database of referrals which includes battered women's shelters, domestic violence programs, and social service programs. Staff are trained to assist the caller to identify problems and possible solutions and to make plans for safety in an emergency.

Domestic violence hotlines targeted to dating violence include loveisrespect. Loveisrespect can be accessed by phone, text or internet chat. The helpline and agency website offer real-time, one-on-one support from trained peer advocates. Peer Advocates are trained to offer support, information and advocacy to those involved in dating abuse relationships as well as concerned parents, teachers, clergy, law enforcement, and service providers.
