Crisis Intervention Hotlines/Helplines

Provider: INSTITUTE ON AGING - FRIENDSHIP LINE

The agency provides services for older adults 60 years and older, any adult 18 years and older with physical or mental disability, and their family members or caregivers in California. Services include friendly telephoning, crisis intervention and talklines/warmlines. Age restrictions apply; there are no geographic restrictions. 

Information and referral services are available for Bay Area local resources only. 

 The Friendship Line receives and makes confidential calls out to individuals who may be depressed, isolated, bereaved, anxious, thinking about death or suicide, and/or just lonely and in need of a connection. It also serves as a warmline and crisis intervention line. Calls made to the Friendship Line are limited to two 10 minute calls per day per caller. An outbound daily check in call can be arranged for individuals pending in-take process approval.
