Checking/Savings Accounts (Foster Children)

Provider: LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF AUDITOR - CONTROLLER - OMBUDSPERSON FOR YOUTH

The office provides youth services for foster children age 13 and older, in Los Angeles county. Services include checking/savings accounts. Age restrictions apply; there are no geograpihc restrictions.

Through a partnership with Rize Credit Union, the Youth Access Banking Program offers bank accounts to foster youth without an adult co-owner. The program removes traditional barriers by accepting alternative forms of ID including school-issued ID cards, screenshots of student name and photo taken from official school portals, and letters from placement agencies or social workers; waiving account fees, and providing the $5 deposit required to establish an account.
