Local Government Complaints/Ombudsman Offices

Provider: LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF AUDITOR - CONTROLLER - OMBUDSPERSON FOR YOUTH

The office provides appeals and complaints services related to youth placed by the Los Angeles County Department of Family and Children Services in congregate care settings, such as short-term residential therapeutic programs (STRTPs), group homes (GHs) and community treatment facilities (CTFs). There are no geographic restrictions.

The office serves as an advocate and accepts complaints from youth and from individuals who are concerned about a youth who have been placed. Complaints may be made anonymously; however, if the matter involves alleged abuse or neglect, a report will be made to the Child Protection Hotline.

Complaints related to youth living in other counties are directed to the California State Office of the Foster Care Ombudsman; see the separate entry.
