Provider: LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY - POMONA VALLEY WIOA YOUTH PROGRAM - AMERICA'S JOB CENTER OF CALIFORNIA

The agency provides WIOA youth employment and training services for low-income youth ages 14 to 24, including those who are currently out of school, in Los Angeles county. Services are targeted to CalWORKs and GR recipients; and foster, probationary and homeless youth. Services are provided at many community locations; geographic restrictions apply for each site.

The program operates July 1 through the end of June the following year; slots are limited. Services include paid work experience, paid personal enrichment and work readiness training. To be eligible family income must meet Federal poverty guidelines. In addition, eligible youth must face one or more of the following barriers to employment:

*Basic Skills Deficient - reading, writing or computing at lower than 8th. Grade level.

*School Dropout

*Homeless, runaway or foster child

*Offender - is or has been subject to any stage of the criminal justice process

*Pregnant or parenting

*Requires assistance due to one of the following barriers:

Emancipation

Disability

Limited English proficiency

Family history of chronic unemployment

Family history of long-term public assistance

Youth whose parents meet one of the above barriers
