The agency provides conservation services for individuals in Los Angeles County. Services include environmental improvement groups, directory/resource list publication, information clearinghouses, internship programs, legislative advocacy, media materials, printed materials, public awareness/education, tourism development, speakers/speakers bureaus and volunteer opportunities. There are no geographic restrictions.

The center provides public awareness/education and services about the ecological crisis, problems and solutions and performs advocacy services for local, national and international environmental issues.

Public awareness/education services cover topics such as alternative ecological lifestyles, desert and forest land management, historical and cultural preservation, ocean and coastal protection, overpopulation, toxic waste, urban blight, sustainability, wetlands and refuges, wildlife preservation and renewable energies. Speakers about ecotourism are also available.

The clearinghouse provides ecology-related educational materials including pamphlets, books, and audio and video cds and dvds. The Center also publishes and distributes the bimonthly Compendium Newsletter. It also sponsors the regular weekly national Environmental Directions radio series; a weekly international television series, ECONEWS; and Project Ecotourism, which promotes responsible travel.

The agency also sponsors educational and media programs; monitors meetings and seminars; supports community coalition-building; and evaluates environmental impact reports. Furthermore, members of the public may become center members to help support the work of the center. Membership entitles people to a subscription to the newsletter.

The agency maintains a cabin that is registered on the National Registry of Historic Places, and is available for retreat; meeting; or photo, film or video shoots.

Volunteer opportunities are available to people interested in promoting environmental issues and to do television digital editing. Volunteer activities can be done in West Los Angeles, Idyllwild, Santa Ana or at the volunteer's own home.
