Child Health and Disability Prevention Exams

The center provides low-cost health services for children, adolescents, and adults in Los Angeles County. The medical services for teens, adults, and older adults include general medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, family planning, cancer screening, teen health counseling, diabetes and high blood pressure care, and geriatric medicine. There are no geographic restrictions.

Contract clinic services include outpatient health services for uninsured, low-income Los Angeles County residents of all ages, including General Relief recipients. It provides primary general medical care. Applicant's household income must be at or below 134% of federal poverty guidelines, or who are GR recipients.

The medical services available for children include general pediatric care, immunizations, school physicals, well child care, and Child Health and Disability Prevention program (CHDP) screening and follow up, and speech therapy. CHDP provides regular, preventive health assessments and developmental assessments for children from birth to age 21 who are Medi-Cal eligible and for children from birth through age 18 whose family income is less than 200% of the federal poverty level. The check-ups are offered at set intervals and may include the required Head Start or State Preschool and pre-first grade exams.

The center is also a certified provider of Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP), an elective Medi-Cal funded program which provides comprehensive pre-natal care including evaluation, direct medical services; nutrition and health education; psychological counseling and social services if needed. The center provides a full service obstetric program staffed by nurse midwives and OB doctors.

The dental services include both pediatric and adult dentistry, dental hygiene, and orthodontia. The center has a laboratory and pharmacy on the premises. Mental health services are also available to eligible clients.

The center also has an early intervention program for children age six weeks to six years who have developmental disabilities and are referred by regional center. Emphasis is placed on improving cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioral development.
