Temporary Restraining Orders

The department provides law enforcement services for the city of El Segundo. Services include abandoned vehicle reporting, crime prevention, animal control, emergency protective orders, law enforcement complaints, municipal police, and temporary restraining orders services. The service area is restricted to the city of El Segundo.
Temporary restraining order assistance is provided on a short term (72 hrs.), emergency basis only. Regular TROs must be applied for at a Superior Court location.
Staff investigates and takes appropriate action in reported cases of law violations including child abuse/neglect. The agency also maintains a specialized juvenile bureau for the investigation and resolution of situations which involve minors, and also maintains a community relations division.
Animal control services include investigation of reports of animal cruelty or neglect, the rescue and sheltering of stray and lost animals, picking up dead animals, reuniting owners and lost pets, making homeless animals available for adoption by the public, as well as providing licenses for dogs and registration for cats.

Application Procedure
Call or walk in for non-emergency services and for information, and for copies of police or incident reports. ID is required for police reports and only individuals who are authorized to obtain reports may request them. In an emergency, call 9-1-1. The department also maintains separate local numbers for emergency and non-emergency calls.
Fees
There are no fees for most services, reports cost $.20 per page.
