Head Start

This comprehensive early childhood education program supports early learning, development, health and family well-being of children age birth to five, from low-income families. Eligible families must meet federal low-income guidelines; children from families receiving TANF or SSI and children in foster care are eligible regardless of income. Local programs have geographic restrictions.
Grantee agencies administer local Early Head Start and Head Start sites throughout Los Angeles County; some of the grantees administer sites directly and some reassign the responsibility to delegate agencies.
