The program provides health services for individuals who have cancer who live in Los Angeles County. Services include appearance enhancement consultation programs, disease/disability information, health/disability related support groups, health/disability related counseling and wigs. There are no geographic restrictions.

The program assists women who have cancer learn about make-up, skin care, hairstyling and other grooming techniques to help them cope with the changes in personal appearance that may occur as a result of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. The goal of the program is to enable women to feel some control over their lives and to increase their sense of self-confidence. Local hospitals participate in the program.

Look Good Feel Better for Men program has information on grooming basics to cope with the side effects of cancer treatment including skin changes, hair loss, stress and other issues.

Some of the side effects of treatment for cancer may include dry skin; blotchiness; discolored fingernails; and the loss of hair, eyelashes and brows. The program teaches participants make-up techniques, how to compensate for hair loss, ways to use scarves and turbans, how to choose and care for wigs and other skills. The program also provides literature about the program and about personal techniques women can use to enhance their appearance while undergoing treatment.
