Commodity Supplemental Food Program

Provider: LOS ANGELES COUNTY AGING AND DISABILITIES DEPARTMENT - EAST RANCHO DOMINGUEZ COMMUNITY CENTER AND PARK

The program provides emergency food to people who live in Compton, East Rancho Dominguez, Lynwood and Paramount, including people who are undocumented or homeless. Services includes a food lines, commodity supplemental food program for seniors and ongoing emergency food assistance. Geographic restrictions apply for some services.

The agency works in collaboration with Trader Joes and Sprouts to provide a food line through the Five Loaves and Two Fishes program. The program provides groceries including eggs, bread, canned and dry goods, sandwiches, salads and other groceries. Service is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. There are no geographic restrictions.

Ongoing emergency food is available for people who live in Compton, East Rancho Dominguez, Lynwood and Paramount and food consists of a 3 to 4 day supply of USDA surplus goods, and canned and packaged dried goods. Powdered milk is sometimes available. The amount of food varies with household size.

The commodity supplemental food program is for seniors age 60 and older. The program will provide 2 bags of groceries. The senior must register for the program, ID is required and the income guidelines for the program are - 1 person $1316/mo., for 2 people $1784/mo. There are no geographic restrictions for this program.

People may apply for food for the ongoing emergency food program once a month. People who live outside of the service area are assisted once and referred to a resource in their area. Service is restricted to Compton, East Rancho Dominguez, Lynwood and Paramount.
