Human Relations Groups

The agency provides community action groups services for individuals in Los Angeles County. Service include constitutional/civil rights groups, hate crimes prevention, human relations groups, organizational development and management services, and research on civil rights issues. There are no geographic restrictions.

The commission identifies human relations conflicts that exist in the county, establishes policies and approves programs to help resolve the conflicts, monitors and reports on hate crimes, coordinates with commission staff to implement the plans.

The commission works to reduce discrimination and prejudice which is based on race, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, marital status, age, disability or medical condition. The current focus is on problems of hate crimes and intergroup tension.

The commission conducts research of human relations issues; publishes booklets which assist agencies and organizations; provides consultation and technical assistance for public and private agencies; and monitors instances of racially and religiously-motivated violence countywide.

The commission publishes a variety of publications which are available to the public.
